Korean Pharmaceutical Association maintains emergency committee

The Korean Pharmaceutical Association (KPA) has decided to maintain its current emergency response committee after a proposal to establish a new body failed to secure a majority vote during an extraordinary general meeting. The vote resulted in 108 in favor, 138 against, and 5 abstentions.

Following the decision, KPA President Kwon Young-hee apologized for communication lapses with regional branch leaders and pledged to strengthen the existing committee by expanding its composition and improving internal communication. The association aims to consolidate its strength rather than dividing its leadership.

The KPA has adopted a resolution to intensify its opposition to several key health policy issues. These include halting the expansion of drug delivery for telemedicine prescriptions, stopping the expansion of over-the-counter medicine categories, regulating warehouse-style pharmacies to prevent external capital interference, and clarifying the legal scope of work for pharmacists and oriental pharmacists.
