Korean securities firms expand AI infrastructure and tokenized asset initiatives

South Korean securities firms are diversifying into high-tech financial sectors. Korea Investment & Securities has entered into a strategic memorandum of understanding with Samil PwC to develop financing solutions for GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) infrastructure. This partnership aims to address the unique risks and rapid replacement cycles of AI computing assets, providing financial structures for AI data centers.

Meritz Securities has partnered with the Optimism Foundation to explore the issuance, settlement, and distribution of tokenized financial assets using the Ethereum Layer 2 network, OP Mainnet. This initiative seeks to provide a foundation for domestic financial assets to reach global investors through tokenization.

In separate business developments, Korea Investment & Securities reported a 44.8% increase in its DC and IRP retirement pension reserves, reaching 18.5 trillion won by the end of the third quarter. Meanwhile, Meritz Securities has announced an open recruitment drive for university graduates across five sectors, including investment banking and IT, to bolster its workforce.
