Korean War veteran from Erzurum honored as Peace Ambassador
Documents have surfaced regarding Elaattin Boylucu, a Korean War veteran from Erzurum, Turkey, revealing he was honored with the title of ‘Peace Ambassador’ by South Korea.
Researcher Taner Özdemir brought to light two significant documents. One is a 2013 record from the Turkish Ministry of National Defense’s Yakutiye Military Branch, which officially identifies Boylucu as a Korean War veteran. The second is a document dated September 19, 2004, issued by the Republic of Korea War Veterans Association.
The South Korean document expresses gratitude on behalf of the Korean people for the contributions made by Turkish soldiers in protecting the country’s freedom and democracy during the Korean War. The discovery highlights the enduring recognition of the sacrifices made by Turkish military personnel.
