Korea's KOICA and Kookmin University launch AI PhD fellowship for Palestinian researchers
Kookmin University and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) have started an AI PhD Fellowship program aimed at training 30 Palestinian scholars in artificial‑intelligence research. The fellows will enroll in Kookmin University's AI·SW graduate school, receive doctoral education, and work on projects linked to Palestine’s pressing challenges. The initiative is part of KOICA’s broader effort to strengthen digital transformation in Palestine and is designed so that participants return home after graduation to lead research, development and industry innovation.
Program components include joint research with Korean faculty, industry‑university collaborations, internships, conference presentations and technology‑commercialisation support. KOICA’s Palestine office head emphasized that the fellowship seeks to create a sustainable talent pool that can drive digital innovation and public‑service improvements in Palestine.
