KOREATECH research team publishes three papers in Chemical Engineering Journal

A research team led by Professor Young-seok Shim from the Korea University of Technology and Education (KOREATECH) has published three consecutive papers in the Chemical Engineering Journal this year. The journal is a highly ranked international publication in the field of chemical engineering and materials science, ranking within the top 3% of its category.

The research originated from experimental data and findings generated by students during an undergraduate course titled ‘Sensor Devices and Practice’. Through collaborative research with Dr. Dong-hwi Cho of the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology and Professor Jeong-hwan Seo of Hongik University, these student-led findings were refined into high-level scientific achievements.

The three published studies include: the development of an acetone gas sensor using nanospiral structures that is 80 times more sensitive than existing models in March; a study on high-performance gas sensors for selective hydrogen sulfide detection in complex environments in May; and a study on high-performance acetone gas sensors based on SnO2 nanostructures with Mn2O3 catalyst deposition in October.
