Koroni Primary School: Parents protest unsafe building conditions

Parents and educators in Koroni, Messinia, are organizing protests against the Municipality of Pylos-Nestor regarding the unsafe condition of the Koroni Primary School. With only 15 days remaining before the new school year begins, the Parents and Guardians Association describes the school building as resembling a “construction site.”

Concerns center on recent works involving the opening of holes in the structure by a private sponsor. The Association claims the municipal authority has ignored repeated written inquiries and has failed to provide official documentation certifying the building’s structural integrity, suitability, and safety.

Protesters are demanding immediate answers and a clear contingency plan for student relocation should the building remain unfit for use. A demonstration is scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, 2026, outside the Municipality Hall to demand substantive solutions and ensure the physical safety of students and staff.
