Korte Einrichtungen files for insolvency under self-administration

Korte Einrichtungen GmbH, a bakery retail construction specialist based in Kürten, has applied for insolvency proceedings under self-administration at the Cologne District Court. The court ordered the preliminary self-administration proceedings on August 18, 2026.

The company cited difficult market conditions within the bakery industry as the primary cause. Specifically, long-standing high cost pressures on artisanal bakeries and significantly extended permit processing times have led to a reduction in investments and a decline in demand for new construction and renovation projects.

Despite the filing, the company intends to continue its business operations without interruption. The 138 employees at the Kürten location have secured salaries through insolvency money until at least October 2026. Management will remain in office, supported by attorney Florian Bandrack from Baker Tilly as general proxy and DTE Consult in an advisory capacity. Marion Rodine has been appointed as the preliminary administrator.

CEO Jochen Engelke stated that the self-administration process will allow the company to adapt to structural changes in the bakery sector. The firm plans to differentiate itself by offering specialized shop construction concepts for classic, hybrid, and autonomous bakery branches.
