Ákos Hadházy alleges MP profited from Paks land scandal
Former Member of Parliament Ákos Hadházy has submitted additional evidence to police regarding a land acquisition scandal in Paks. The allegations suggest that József Sárosi, a current MP for Szekszárd and former CEO of the Paks city operations company, may have profited from the transactions.
Hadházy claims that Paksi Ipari Park Kft. (PIP), a state-owned company, purchased agricultural land at prices approximately 100 times higher than market value. While market rates were estimated at 1–1.5 million HUF per hectare, the company reportedly paid between 100–150 million HUF per hectare. In one instance, a 20-hectare pasture was allegedly purchased for 3 billion HUF.
The allegations state that during 2019/2020, Sárosi approached landowners with “fairy-tale business opportunities,” suggesting that final deals would occur once the land was reclassified. Hadházy asserts that Sárosi may have received undisclosed success fees through private contracts. Although his name does not appear in PIP contracts, Hadházy points to a handover protocol for a 5.5-hectare field, purchased for over 557 million HUF, where Sárosi is listed as the contact person for the seller.
