Kosharitsa teenagers prevent fire from reaching homes
Two teenagers, 16-year-old Stiliyan and 17-year-old Tonislav, prevented a fire from spreading to homes and nearby forests in the village of Kosharitsa, Bulgaria.
While riding their motorcycles in the area, the pair spotted a large column of smoke. After alerting the village mayor, they took immediate action to combat the flames before firefighters arrived. The youths used various methods to suppress the fire, including using their motorcycles, throwing tiles onto the flames, and eventually using wooden boards to beat back the fire.
The mayor described their actions as heroic, noting that they were actively fighting the fire with boards when he arrived on the scene. The fire primarily consumed approximately 700–800 square meters of grass and about one decare of land. No injuries were reported, and residential buildings were not damaged. The Nesebar Municipality has indicated it is considering rewarding the two students for their bravery.
