Koshi Province parties reach power-sharing deal on ministries
The CPN-UML and the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) have reached an agreement to resolve a deadlock regarding ministerial portfolios in the Koshi Province government. Under the new power-sharing deal, the UML will control five ministries, including the chief minister’s office, while the NCP will be allocated four ministries.
While the number of ministries for each party has been settled, the specific portfolios have not yet been determined. The NCP parliamentary party is scheduled to meet to decide on its ministry selections and representatives. Both parties have pledged to finalize the allocation of individual ministries and complete the expansion of the provincial cabinet by Monday.
