Kosovo and Albania aim to strengthen financial cooperation

Ahmet Ismaili, Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), met with Petrit Malaj, the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Kosovo, to discuss strengthening financial cooperation between the two nations.

During the meeting, Ismaili highlighted the stability and resilience of Kosovo’s financial sector and the ongoing efforts to align the legal and regulatory framework with European Union standards. Key topics of discussion included cooperation between the CBK and the Bank of Albania, specifically regarding financial supervision, payment systems, and financial education.

Ismaili also presented reforms aimed at modernizing payment infrastructure and integrating Kosovo into European systems. This includes processes related to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), the development of fast payment systems, and the TIPS Clone project, which are intended to provide faster and more secure transactions for citizens and businesses. The discussions also touched upon consumer protection, financial inclusion, and cybersecurity in the digital age.
