Kosovo arrests two Serbian school directors, staff protest
Police forces in Kosovo detained Negovan Vasić, director of OŠ “Bratstvo” in Strezovce, and Dragana Krstić, director of OŠ “Desanka Maksimović” in Kosovska Kamenica. The officials were placed under police custody for up to 48 hours, a move described by the Serbian Ministry for Kosovo and Metohija as politically motivated and ordered by Pristina.
Teachers and employees of the schools staged a half‑hour protest in Kosovska Kamenica, describing the arrests as pressure on the Serbian community. The Serbian List accused the authorities of retaliation linked to recent elections and called for the immediate release of the directors and an investigation of alleged vote‑rigging.
Special police units reportedly entered the directors’ homes with weapons before seizing school documents, actions the Serbian side says were intended to intimidate Serbian residents in the Kosovo Pomoravlje region.
