Kosovo authorities seize unlabeled medicines and penalize pharmacies

Authorities in Kosovo have conducted several enforcement actions targeting pharmaceutical irregularities, including the seizure of unlabeled medicines and inspections of pharmacies for regulatory compliance.

Kosovo Customs seized 2,559 packages of medicines lacking official Republic of Kosovo labels during searches of a pharmaceutical facility and a residence in Prishtina. The total customs value of the confiscated goods is approximately 20,745 euros. The medicines were found in a modified space within a local facility and in a residential basement.

Separately, the Pharmaceutical Inspectorate has identified multiple violations across various locations. In Ratkoc, Phllos Pharm was ordered to close after being found operating without a required pharmacist on duty. In Prizren, the pharmacy at the Pirana Family Medicine Center faced critical findings, including the absence of professional staff, lack of climate control for medicine storage, and failure to use the required electronic management systems.

Additionally, in Prishtina, O2 Pharmacy had several medicinal products confiscated after an inspection revealed they lacked official labels and proof of origin. These enforcement actions have resulted in various fines and orders for compliance with national health and medicinal product laws.
