Albanian police intensify road safety inspections across multiple regions

Albanian police have intensified road safety inspections across multiple regions during the summer season to reduce accidents and manage traffic.

In Shkodër, authorities utilized drones, radars, and intelligent vehicles to monitor traffic. Between July 30 and August 6, 2026, police issued 1,223 administrative measures, including 471 for speeding and 28 for driving under the influence. One driver was arrested and another faced criminal proceedings.

Tirana's Road Police focused on electric motorcycles, resulting in 19 individuals being criminally prosecuted for driving without licenses and the seizure of 19 vehicles. Additionally, 530 administrative measures were issued, primarily for failing to wear helmets.

In Kukës, inspections led to the arrest of a driver caught driving under the influence without a license, while a minor was also processed for driving without authorization. Authorities reported various other infractions, including speeding and seatbelt violations.
