Kosovo coalition talks between Vetëvendosje and PDK seen as strategically beneficial

Political analyst Ylli Hoxha said that negotiations over Kosovo’s new institutions could extend beyond the presidential election to a broader political agreement that would secure a parliamentary majority. He noted that the easiest scenario for Vetëvendosje (LVV) would be a deal with the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), but internal splits in the LDK have made that route difficult.

Hoxha argued that a wider compromise could involve agreement on both the president and the majority. While a coalition with the LDK is logically simpler, the “harder road” would be a partnership with the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK). He said: “E rruga e vështirë është me PDK‑në, por që ndoshta do të jetë më e dobishme strategjikisht, jo për zotin Kurti, por për Kosovën.” Such a LVV‑PDK alliance, though more challenging to form, could bring greater institutional stability and help Kosovo confront challenges from the Special Court and its geopolitical relations with Serbia.
