Kosovo Commission approves draft law for state asset verification bureau

The Commission for the Rights and Interests of Communities and Return has unanimously approved the draft law for the State Bureau for the Verification and Confiscation of Unjustified Assets. The draft law consists of 88 articles and 12 amendments.

Fahrush Rexhepi, the commission's first vice-chairman, stated that the legislation defines the competencies and procedures for verifying and confiscating unjustified assets and confirmed that it does not infringe upon the rights or interests of communities in Kosovo.

Teuta Haxhiu, a deputy from the Alliance, criticized the draft law, labeling it unconstitutional. While she stated she would vote for the bill when it reaches the Assembly, she alleged that the government lacks the genuine will to implement such a law and is only presenting it to the public without intending to make the necessary legal adjustments for it to become effective.
