Kosovo concludes diplomatic ballot count, approves nearly 60,000 postal voting packets

The Central Election Commission (KQZ) of Kosovo has completed the counting of votes cast at its diplomatic missions abroad. In 30 diplomatic representations across 18 countries, 22,860 of the 27,724 registered diaspora voters cast ballots, representing 82.46% of the eligible overseas electorate. The Commission is also processing postal voting packets. More than 85,700 packages have been received from 23 KQZ post boxes worldwide, of which roughly 60,000 have been evaluated. By June 12, 59,973 packets were approved and 2,244 rejected, mainly because registration certificates were missing in 2,066 cases.

At the municipal level, vote verification is nearly finished: 35 of the 38 municipal counting centres have completed their work, accounting for 2,271 of 2,498 precinct votes (90.91%). The counting at the Pristina municipal centre closed on June 12, marking the end of the diplomatic and municipal tally. Remaining postal ballots will require several more days to count, after which the Commission will begin processing conditional votes (52 designated polling stations) and special‑needs votes (3,144 voters). The ongoing verification aims to prevent duplicate voting and ensure the integrity of the early parliamentary election held on June 7, 2026.
