Kosovo Election Commission Awaits Completion of Appeals Before Certifying Final Results

The Central Election Commission (KQZ) said it is waiting for the conclusion of the appeals review before it can certify the final results of the June 7 parliamentary election. Once the appeals are resolved, the commission will issue the certification and the newly elected Assembly will be constituted.

Vetëvendosje emerged as the leading party with 53 seats, followed by PDK with 22, LDK with 18 and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo with 7. Community representatives from the Bosniak, Turkish and Roma parties have indicated they will support the formation of Kosovo’s three institutions – the Assembly, the Government and the President – in cooperation with Vetëvendosje.

The certification will pave the way for coalition negotiations and the appointment of a new government and president, ending the current constitutional‑formation deadlock that delayed the process after the previous election.
