Kosovo election official under house arrest for ballot tampering
Prosecutors in Prizren have requested pre‑trial detention for A. D., a member of Kosovo’s Central Election Commission, accusing him of “taking and hiding six unfilled ballot sheets” during the parliamentary vote on 7 June 2026 at the Sharr school in Jabllanicë. The allegation concerns interference with the voting process and violation of citizens’ free expression.
The Prizren Basic Court’s Criminal Division ordered a one‑month house‑arrest measure for the suspect, stating that any breach would lead to immediate pre‑trial detention. The court noted that the restriction is sufficient to ensure the suspect’s presence for ongoing investigations, while the prosecutor pledged to continue safeguarding electoral integrity and pursuing all procedural steps required by law.
