Kosovo election: Vetëvendosje leads as postal vote count reaches 40%

The Central Election Commission of Kosovo has counted 40.38% of postal ballots, showing the Vetëvendosje movement with a strong lead – about 68.88% of the votes counted so far. The result puts Vetëvendosje far ahead of rival parties such as the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).

Eugen Cakolli, director of the Kosovo Institute for Justice, said the final distribution of seats could give Vetëvendosje roughly 53 mandates in the 120‑member Assembly. He noted that the competition for the last seats between PDK and LDK remains tight, with possible swings of fewer than 100 votes. He also warned that conditional votes, which are still being counted, could affect the outcome and may lead to a partial recount after the Central Election Commission reviews the results. The counting of postal votes is expected to finish by the next day, followed by the tally of conditional votes.
