Kosovo GLPS urges parties to end institutional blockade

The Group for Legal and Political Studies (GLPS) called on all parliamentary parties in Kosovo to assume constitutional and political responsibility for ending an institutional blockade that has persisted for almost two years, warning that the crisis is damaging the country’s democratic functioning and citizens’ interests. GLPS highlighted that while the primary political responsibility lies with the election‑winning Vetëvendosje movement, other parties share an equal constitutional duty.

The organization demanded that parties immediately convene the Assembly, form a government, and initiate dialogue on the presidential election to prevent a new institutional crisis. It noted that the blockade has negatively impacted legislation, administrative reforms, justice, the economy, energy, health, education, investment climate, and Kosovo’s international standing, causing the loss of “millions of euros.”

“GLPS made a call to the entire political spectrum to take constitutional and political responsibility to overcome the institutional blockade,” the statement read.
