Kosovo officials address meat inspection and Olympic bid concerns

Kosovo's Minister of Agriculture, Armend Muja, announced that the country is conducting one of its largest-ever meat inspection operations. This follows the seizure of approximately 103 tons of expired meat in Montenegro that was destined for Kosovo. Muja confirmed ongoing communication with Montenegrin authorities to address the incident and ensure food safety standards.

In separate developments, preparations for the “Prishtina 2030” Mediterranean Games have faced scrutiny. The International Committee for Mediterranean Games (ICMG) raised concerns regarding financial obligations and organizational steps. In response, an urgent meeting was held between the Minister of Youth and Sport, Blerim Gashani, and the Kosovo Olympic Committee. The Kosovo government is expected to provide a formal response to the ICMG by Wednesday to secure the event's future.

Additionally, Prishtina Mayor Përparim Rama emphasized the importance of the 2030 games for national infrastructure and international image, suggesting that political disputes should not jeopardize the opportunity to host the event.
