Kosovo intensifies pharmacy price inspections following consumer complaints

The Central Inspectorate for Market Surveillance (IQMT), in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Inspectorate, has intensified inspections of pharmacies across Kosovo. This action follows an increase in consumer complaints regarding discrepancies between the prices marked on product packaging and the prices charged at the cash register.

During recent inspections in the municipality of Peja, fines were issued to entities found in violation of consumer protection laws. Under current regulations, legal entities found guilty of price mismatches can face fines ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 euros.

The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation (MINTI) stated that these inspections will continue throughout all regions of Kosovo to prevent unfair trade practices and ensure market transparency. More than 20 complaints regarding this specific issue have been filed with the Department for Consumer Protection so far this year, marking an upward trend compared to the previous year.
