Kosovo Interim Government Criticized for Temporary Appointments Amid Swiss Funding Deal
Kosovo's acting prime minister Albin Kurti faced criticism from Ehat Miftaraj, director of the Institute for Justice, who said the recent appointments of new deputy ministers are meaningless and may only be valid for a few weeks. Miftaraj warned that the interim cabinet, which lacks a full governing mandate, is using these appointments for political positioning rather than public interest.
In a separate meeting, Kurti thanked outgoing Swiss ambassador Jurg Sprecher and announced that Switzerland will provide Kosovo with more than 68 million euros (about 64 million Swiss francs) for the 2026‑2029 period. The funding is part of long‑standing Swiss support and is expected to boost economic cooperation and trade under a forthcoming free‑trade agreement within the EFTA framework.
