Kosovo journalists face intimidation and unresolved legal grievances

A recent ceremony honoring the legacy of the "Rilindja" newspaper in Kosovo was criticised for failing to address longstanding grievances of its staff. Journalists and former employees have reported property seizures, dismissals, denial of pension rights, delayed court processes and the disappearance of the newspaper's Swiss‑registered assets. Additionally, a 5.5‑hectare tract of land in Pristina previously allocated to former workers remains unlawfully withheld.

Separately, journalist Naim Kryeziu disclosed that he has been subjected to threatening messages after publishing an investigative report on municipal officials in Suharekë. The messages, allegedly sent by a person identified as Isuf Hajdaraj, included personal threats toward Kryeziu and his family, prompting him to call on law‑enforcement and judicial authorities for protection and a swift legal response.
