Kosovo LDK lawmaker Janina Ymeri warns public backlash over PM Kurti's institutional delays

Janina Ymeri, a member of Kosovo’s Democratic League (LDK), posted on Facebook recalling the 2019 protest slogan of the LVV movement – “A people does not submit to one person.” She said the slogan still applies, this time aimed at Prime Minister Albin Kurti, whom she accuses of prolonging the formation of state institutions for political reasons.

Ymeri warned that if Kurti attempts to extend the current political crisis, “the response of the people will come before the next elections.” She added that legislation and acts that undermine Kosovo’s statehood could provoke public anger, emphasizing that the opposition will monitor the timeline for creating institutions and hold the government accountable ahead of the upcoming vote.

The statements come amid ongoing tensions over institutional reforms and the preparation for Kosovo’s forthcoming parliamentary elections.
