Kosovo leaders honor Deliu family massacre victims in Abri e Epërme

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Acting President Albulena Haxhiu held a memorial service in Abri e Epërme to honor the victims of the Deliu family massacre and other fallen soldiers.

On the 28th anniversary of the events of September 26, 1998, officials commemorated 23 members of the Deliu family who were killed by Serbian forces. The victims included children, pregnant women, and the elderly. Among the victims was six-week-old Dituria Deliu, who survived for several weeks under her mother's body before passing away.

In addition to the Deliu family, the ceremony honored Vesel Demaku, Valdet Xhemajli, and Afrim Hajdaraj, who died while attempting to protect civilians from Serbian forces. Haxhiu emphasized that Kosovo’s institutions remain committed to pursuing justice for these crimes, noting that despite the documentation of the massacre, no one has been convicted for the killings.
