Kosovo honors September 11 victims with solidarity gestures

Twenty-five years after the September 11 terrorist attacks, the United States and Kosovo are observing the anniversary through various acts of remembrance and solidarity. In Kosovo, the government building was illuminated with the colors of the American flag and displayed the message “We Will Never Forget 9/11” to honor the victims.

Civil society organizations in Kosovo, including the “Friends of America” and “Çamëria” associations, held activities featuring American flags and memorials for the 2,977 victims. These groups expressed deep gratitude for the United States' historical role in Kosovo's liberation and state formation.

The legacy of the attacks continues to impact the U.S. significantly, having fundamentally altered national security policies and leading to decades of conflict in regions such as Iraq and Afghanistan. The attacks resulted in the deaths of approximately 3,000 people, including 343 members of the New York City Fire Department.
