Kosovo Minister defends timeline for Liberation War values law
During a session of the Kosovo Assembly, Minister for Labor, Family and Values of the Liberation War, Andin Hoti, responded to inquiries from Deputy Time Kadrijaj regarding the timeline for the Law on the Values of the Liberation War.
Kadrijaj questioned why the law, which is currently scheduled for the legislative program in the summer of next year, was not being brought to the Assembly sooner, suggesting the delay was unreasonable given the importance of the legislation. Hoti countered that the criticism was a “political attack,” noting that more than 27 years have passed since the end of the liberation war without such a law being established.
He stated that the goal is to create a “sustainable law” that includes all categories affected by the war and emphasized that the government would continue working on the matter without interruption, even through the summer months. Hoti maintained that the current 10-month legislative timeframe should not be scrutinized given the decades of inaction prior to his ministry's efforts.
