Kosovo Minister Nenad Rashiq claims Serbian BIA pressuring his family after elections

Nenad Rashiq, Kosovo's minister for Communities and Return, said that intimidation of his political party and family continued following the recent parliamentary elections. He reported that his son, a university student, was stopped for about two hours at a border crossing and questioned by individuals who presented themselves as members of Serbia's Security and Information Agency (BIA).

Rashiq described the post‑election environment as more aggressive and brutal, noting that the incident reflects a broader, organized pressure campaign against his supporters. The remarks come amid heightened tensions after Rashiq previously warned of pressure on Serbian voters and representatives in Kosovo. In late May, seven Serbian school and health officials were arrested in Graçanicë on accusations of influencing voter choice, prompting daily local protests. Rashiq said it is too early to forecast further developments but affirmed his intention to pursue dialogue and compromise with the prime minister during the technical mandate.

The minister’s allegations underline ongoing frictions between Kosovo’s Albanian‑led government and the Serb community, with the border incident highlighting cross‑border security concerns.
