Kosovo Ministry of Education considers 4+4+4 school system

The Kosovo Ministry of Education is evaluating the Education Strategy 2035+, which includes the potential return to a 4+4+4 school system. Under this proposed model, primary education would extend through the eighth grade.

Minister of Education Hajrulla Çeku and SBASHK Chairman Rrahman Jasharaj are conducting meetings with teachers across various municipalities to gather feedback. The goal is to ensure the strategy is informed by frontline educators rather than being developed solely in offices.

Education experts have expressed concerns regarding the proposal. Former Education Director Samir Shahini suggested that returning to the 4+4+4 system could cause confusion and further complicate an already strained educational system, potentially impacting both students and teachers. Other ideas under consideration include the redistribution of competencies to school directorates.
