Kosovo Ministry of Health to secure Avastin supply
Kosovo’s Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, announced that the drug Avastin is expected to be available to patients soon. This follows the failure of two previous procurement procedures due to high prices and a lack of competing economic operators.
Vitia explained that the shortage was exacerbated by drug price ceiling laws and the fact that some pharmaceutical companies do not register certain medicines in the Kosovo market. To address these issues, the Ministry has implemented a new administrative directive allowing for the temporary authorization of medicines that lack official marketing authorization in the country. The latest version of Avastin has now been included in the Kosovo drug price list, paving the way for its supply.
