Kosovo municipalities lead budget transparency while citizens weigh in on euro coin design
Eight municipalities governed by the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) topped the 2025 Budget Transparency Index published by the GAP Institute, each receiving a perfect score of 100 points. Ferizaj, Kaçanik, Mitrovica e Jugut, Prizren and Vushtrria led the rankings, while Drenas scored 95 and Skenderaj 92.5. The eight PDK‑led municipalities averaged 98.1 points, far above the national average of 64.5, which the party cited as evidence of its commitment to open and accountable local governance.
Separately, the European Central Bank opened a public consultation on the design of new euro banknotes, inviting citizens from across Europe, including Kosovo, to express their preferences. Over 1,200 proposals were submitted, ten finalists were selected under the themes “European Culture” and “Rivers and Birds,” and the Bank of Kosovo encouraged participation, noting the process supports Kosovo’s broader European integration goals.
