Kosovo official criticizes UNMIK report at UN Security Council

Glauk Konjufca, Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, has accused UNMIK of producing a selective report based on Serbian disinformation. Speaking before the United Nations Security Council, Konjufca argued that the report fails to accurately reflect Kosovo’s progress in rule of law, stability, and human rights.

Konjufca specifically criticized the report’s characterization of the September 24, 2023, Banjska attack, stating it should be labeled a ‘terrorist attack’ rather than a ‘violent incident.’ He further claimed the report misinterprets the actions of Kosovo’s institutions and misuses ethnic connotations.

Domestically, Konjufca’s address faced criticism from Ariana Musliu Shoshi, a deputy from the Democratic Party of Kosovo. Shoshi argued that the Minister’s diplomatic tone was insufficient regarding the sentencing of former KLA leaders, who received 81 years in prison. She contended that the speech failed to strongly defend key historical figures and lacked the necessary vigor to represent Kosovo’s national interests and historical truth.
