Kosovo officials address democratic participation and post‑election government formation

Bilall Kasami, mayor of Tetovo, publicly thanked the German Embassy and the Institute for Leadership and Public Policy for organising a discussion on democratic values and citizen participation. The event, titled “From representation to influence”, highlighted the need for women’s active involvement in decision‑making and noted that half of the municipality’s education institutions are now led by women.

Political analyst Skender Mulliqi criticised Kosovo’s parties for disappointing voters, citing low turnout and contested election results. He reported that the Self‑Determination Movement (LVV) secured 53 parliamentary seats, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) 22, and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) 18, prompting negotiations over coalition options with minority parties, PDK or LDK. Mulliqi urged rapid formation of a stable government to avoid further institutional crises and emphasized international pressure for a functional administration.
