Kosovo officials seek to turn Bondsteel into permanent US base
Kosovo defense officials have announced upcoming discussions with the United States regarding the potential transformation of the Bondsteel camp into a permanent American military base. Defense Minister Ejup Macedonci stated that the U.S. has provided a positive response to initiating these talks.
During visits to the U.S. and meetings with American senators, Prime Minister Albin Kurti reiterated the position that Bondsteel should become a permanent installation. Macedonci noted that co-financing military camps with allies aligns with the new strategy of U.S. President Donald Trump, adding that Pristina has expressed readiness for such cooperation.
Regarding reports that Israel has denied permission for a military point in Gaza that would house Kosovo security forces, Macedonci stated he has no information on the matter. He did note that Kosovo units continue to receive data on preparations conducted alongside the U.S. for deployment and that the U.S. command in the Middle East values their personnel.
