Kosovo political crisis intensifies as opposition demands Assembly constitution
Political tension in Kosovo has escalated as deputies from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) demand the continuation of the Assembly's constitutive session. Opposition leaders have accused Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the Vetëvendosje Movement of holding the country hostage by failing to complete the institutional constitution process.
Representatives from the United States Embassy and the European Union were present in the Assembly hall during these proceedings. PDK deputy Perparim Gruda stated that their presence is a significant political message, signaling that international partners oppose any attempt to overturn the constitutional order.
Opposition members have also organized protests in front of the Government building, arguing that the institutional blockade is negatively impacting both central and local governance. Some deputies have cited Supreme Court rulings to argue that the current leadership must choose between parliamentary and executive roles to resolve the legal impasse.
