Kosovo Parliament Holds Constitutional Session, Swears in New Deputies
The Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo convened a constitutional session during which the deputies of the 11th legislature were sworn in. The meeting was chaired by the senior deputy Avni Dehari and opened by the youngest deputy, Fatma Taçi, with ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions in attendance.
During the session, proposals were presented to establish a temporary commission to verify the quorum and the mandates of the deputies. The Parliament approved the commission’s report, presented by its chair Adnan Rrustemi. Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, leader of the Vetëvendosje movement, addressed the assembly, requesting additional time to continue talks with parliamentary parties on the election of a new president. He thanked Bedri Hamza, leader of the PDK, and Lumir Abdixhiku of the LDK for their meetings, noting that earlier discussions had been paused due to internal developments in the LDK and had only resumed this week. Dehari announced that, lacking a candidate to propose for the speaker’s post, the session would be adjourned until further notice.
