Kosovo parliamentary election leaves 30 former deputies out of new assembly

The 7 June parliamentary election in Kosovo reshaped the composition of the Assembly. Of the 30 deputies elected in the previous, two‑month‑long legislature, none secured a seat in the new parliament. Vetëvendosje won 48 mandates, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) 24, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) 20 and the AAK 8. All 23 former Vetëvendosje MPs who ran again failed to be re‑elected, as did three former PDK legislators, one former LDK lawmaker and three candidates from the Serbian List.

A gender quota will leave several male candidates without seats, while 29 women have already secured positions without quota assistance. The vote count is over 75 % complete, and media reports have highlighted the ten lowest‑voted candidates who nonetheless received at least some votes.
