Kosovo police fines drivers for speeding and phone use, sign road safety pact with Albania

The Kosovo Police identified a driver travelling at 180 km/h on a road limited to 50 km/h in Pristina and imposed a fine, with the case referred to court. During May 2026, the Ferizaj police unit issued 233 fines to motorists caught using a phone while driving, warning that the distraction can lead to serious accidents. In early June, the police forces of Kosovo and Albania signed a bilateral agreement to coordinate road‑traffic policing for the 2026 tourist season. The pact targets high traffic flows at the Morina border crossing and expands the use of drones, speed‑radars and intelligent vehicles to improve safety, prevent accidents and curb cross‑border crime.
