Kosovo Police interrupt Serbian List pre-election rally in North Mitrovica

Kosovo Police interrupted a pre-election rally held by the Serbian List in North Mitrovica. The gathering, which took place at a technical school, was intended to support candidates for the upcoming Serbian parliamentary elections scheduled for October 25.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Enver Dugolli stated that Kosovo institutions will not permit Serbian electoral activities or rallies to be organized within Kosovo territory without official permission from Kosovar authorities. Dugolli emphasized that the era of Serbia organizing elections and referendums in Kosovo without consent has ended, noting that such a practice has been restricted since 2022 to uphold Kosovo's sovereignty and legal integrity.

Veton Elshani, Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police for the northern region, confirmed that officials from the Serbian List were present and were instructed to disperse. While the group claimed the gathering was a form of “education,” police maintained that unauthorized pre-election rallies for Serbia are not permitted. The Serbian List, which is supported by Belgrade, has not yet issued a formal statement regarding the police action.
