Kosovo is facing a deepening institutional crisis as political parties struggle to constitute the Assembly and elect a consensus president. Acting President Albulena Haxhiu called for a consultative meeting with political leaders to resolve the deadlock, but opposition parties, including the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Alliance, refused to attend.

PDK representative Uran Ismaili characterized the invitation as political manipulation by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, arguing that the solution must be sought within the Assembly rather than through consultative meetings. PDK has requested that the constitutive session be reconvened on August 16 to elect the Speaker and finalize the Assembly's formation.

Avni Dehari, the chairperson of the constitutive session, has warned that attempting to continue the session without a prior political agreement on the presidency could lead to increased tensions and even physical clashes within the Assembly. Dehari noted that proceeding without such an agreement could ultimately necessitate early elections, a scenario he urged all parties to avoid to ensure institutional stability.
