US Embassy urges Kosovo leaders to prioritize stability amid political deadlock

The United States Embassy in Pristina marked the 27th anniversary of NATO forces entering Kosovo, saying the deployment opened the path to peace and stability and reaffirming ongoing US support for Kosovo's prosperity.

The embassy also warned that Kosovo's ongoing political deadlock is costing the country opportunities. It called on Kosovo's leaders to work together to swiftly form new institutions following the early parliamentary elections held on 7 June 2026 and to prioritise the election of a new president, viewing the resolution of the leadership vacuum as essential for progress and stability.

Both statements emphasize the need for cooperation among political parties to uphold constitutional procedures and advance Kosovo’s democratic development.
