Kosovo political deadlock threatens EU funds and economy

Political deadlock in Kosovo is causing significant economic instability, threatening foreign investment and the approval of essential legislative reforms. The lack of functional institutions is hindering the work of boards and the private sector.

Kushtrim Ahmeti, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that Kosovo has already lost the first installment of the EU Growth Plan, estimated at over 70 million euros. The country risks losing access to a total of over 800 million euros if it fails to meet European Union conditions and establish vital institutions.

Furthermore, the political crisis has directly impacted local producers. Farmers report significant delays in receiving financial support and subsidies from the Ministry of Agriculture. Business representatives warn that continued instability could deepen economic damage and cause Kosovo to fall behind its regional neighbors.
