Kosovo Prosecutorial Council approves key reports and personnel changes

The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC) has approved several key administrative and operational reports during its recent meetings. This includes the 2025 annual reporting mechanisms for the Special Prosecution of Kosovo and the Basic Prosecutions in Peja, Prizren, Mitrovica, and Gjilan.

In Peja, Chief Prosecutor Lumturije Vuqetaj reported handling 1,034 cases involving 1,355 individuals in 2025, noting a 70 percent increase in alternative procedures such as mediation. In Prizren, Chief Prosecutor Petrit Kryeziu highlighted increased arrests and indictments as evidence of legal equality. The reports for Mitrovica and Gjilan were also approved.

Beyond reporting, the KPC approved personnel changes, including the advancement of Veton Shabani and Ersan Qavoll to the Office of the Chief Prosecutor, and the permanent transfers of Virtyte Gërvalla, Shaqir Sertolli, and Dardan Çela to different departments. The Council also reviewed performance evaluations for 22 state prosecutors, approving 21 and returning one for reconsideration. Additionally, Arlinda Muqa was appointed as the new head of the Commission for Budget, Finance, and Administration, replacing Dardan Vuniqi.
