Kosovo Pushes Ahead with Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games Preparations
Kosovo is accelerating preparations for the Mediterranean Games slated for Prishtina 2030, a project described as one of the country's largest sport‑state initiatives. Officials warn that delays in building sport facilities and uncertainties in work progress threaten the timetable. Olympic Committee of Kosovo President Ismet Krasniqi warned that a failure would deal a “severe blow” to Kosovo’s sporting reputation, likening it to a loss of half the nation’s independence.
Basketball Federation President Arben Fetahu and Handball Federation President Edi Kolgeci echoed the urgency, calling for immediate mobilisation across federations, state bodies and the Prishtina 2030 organising committee. They stressed that successful delivery would bolster Kosovo’s international standing and unlock future opportunities to host major events.
