Kosovo faces political instability and administrative hurdles

Kosovo is facing significant political and administrative challenges. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kosovo (DHTIK) has called for urgent government intervention to unblock public property exploitation procedures. DHTIK reports that administrative delays and complex bureaucracy, particularly regarding land destination changes by the Kosovo Forestry Agency, are hindering economic activity, causing job losses, and increasing reliance on imports like gravel from Serbia.

Simultaneously, political tension is rising within the Kosovo Assembly. Following recent judicial decisions, the Assembly leadership has agreed to issue a joint declaration regarding the situation. Deputy Besnik Tahiri of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) criticized the lack of political will and seriousness regarding the upcoming presidential election, noting that the country requires greater institutional stability and responsibility to avoid constant electoral cycles.

In the energy sector, the Institute for Development Policy (INDEP) highlighted the need for public policies that reduce risks for private investments in renewable energy. A recent report emphasized that clearer regulations, more predictable administrative processes, and better coordination between institutions are essential to attract the private capital needed to meet Kosovo’s clean energy production goals.
