Kosovo schools implement internal teacher performance evaluations
Schools in Kosovo, including ‘Mihail Grameno’ in Fushë Kosovë and ‘Emin Duraku’ in Prishtinë, are conducting internal evaluation processes for teaching staff. This assessment aims to measure quality across five key areas, including teaching and learning effectiveness.
The evaluation system utilizes a multi-faceted scoring method. According to Sadri Emini, deputy director of the ‘Mihail Grameno’ primary school, the process involves a commission formed at the start of the school year. Scoring is distributed among the director (40 points), self-assessment (25 points), peer evaluation (25 points), and student feedback (10 points). Teachers scoring below 80 points face potential non-renewal of their licenses.
Quality Coordinator Faruk Foniqi noted that these assessments serve as indicators of collective school performance and help identify specific needs for intervention and improvement. The process at ‘Emin Duraku’ is expected to conclude by late March or early April.
