Kosovo seeks to purchase American military helicopters

Kosovo is seeking to strengthen its defense capabilities through the purchase of American military helicopters. Minister of Defense Ejup Maqedonci announced that a request has been addressed to the U.S. Department of Defense.

The procurement process is expected to be conducted through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program, which allows for the acquisition of military equipment via the United States government. Under this program, the U.S. Department of Defense will lead the negotiation and procurement procedures.

Security experts view the move as a positive step for the Kosovo Security Force (FSK). However, analysts suggest that beyond helicopters, the country requires a broader range of defense systems, including anti-aircraft protection, anti-armor tools, and drones to fully modernize its military capacity.
