Kosovo set to convene new parliament by constitutional deadline

Kosovo’s Central Election Commission certified the final results of the early parliamentary elections held on 7 June, officially closing the voting process and confirming the composition of the new Assembly. The certification triggers a 30‑day constitutional period within which the legislature must be constituted, no later than 7 August.

Acting President Albulena Haxhiu announced she will call the constitutive session within the prescribed timeframe. Prior to the session, a preparatory meeting with parliamentary party representatives will be held to organise verification of mandates, oath‑taking, and the election of the Assembly’s speaker and deputy speakers. Following the constitution of the Assembly, the president‑elect will be nominated, and the newly formed parliament will then vote to appoint a prime‑ministerial candidate and subsequently a president.

Haxhiu praised the certification as the conclusion of an important democratic process, emphasizing the voters’ will and the responsibility of elected officials to serve with integrity and accountability.
